I feel like time is FLYING by, these days! The end of the school year is so hectic…and I only kids in pre-school. So, I thought I would write one post and catch up on all that’s been going on.
1. Rain and Storms:Â
I could do without having to use these so often!
I didn’t realize when we were deciding to move to Indianapolis, that tornadoes were a natural occurrence. Last night we had the girls in bed with us until midnight, because of tornado warnings and sirens going off. Growing up in southeast Texas, hurricanes were more common but we were rarely effected. (That all changed once I moved away: Rita, Ike…)
The most disappointing part of this “Spring” season, is all the rain. We are heading right into Summer and we haven’t even been able to enjoy nice Spring weather. On the bright side, our plants are LOVING the rain!
My house smells fabulous from all the fresh flowers. 🙂
2. 40th Wedding Anniversary
Last week I helped a friend with her parent’s 40th wedding anniversary. She needed to keep the budget very small, so we had to get a little creative with the decor and make most of it. The invitations and cake had a black and white damask pattern, so we worked off of that. We bought white table cloths, tissue paper and glass containers from the dollar store, and I made table runners out of different fabrics. We used the tissue paper to make poms and cut flowers from her yard for the tables. The original plan was to have it in the backyard…but, the rain came and we had to quickly move everything inside.Â
I was only able to get a few pictures. (I used Picnik to play around with the coloring and effects.)
Â
We also scanned and printed pictures of her parents and hung them from jute twine with petite clothes pins around the house. This is a fun way to add a personal touch and very inexpensive.
3. Etsy shop
My Etsy shop has been taking up a lot of my time. I am finally getting my shop stocked, but I have been struggling with the pictures. I am not liking any of the photos and the perfectionist in me, takes too much time on pictures that I’m not even happy with! Can you tell I’m a tab bit frustrated!!! If any of you have suggestions, PLEASE let me know.
Although, I have some really fun stuff that I need to get up. I am going to have a new section on vintage fashion, and I have some other really cool household items. If only there were more hours in the day.
 4. Coupons: Not for the faint of heart
I have two friends who are avid couponers. They have been trying to convince me for a while to use coupons at the grocery store. Well, I will say it takes quite a bit of time.  BUT this week I saved 50% off my total, which was around $140! So, needless to say, I will probably stick to couponing. I think it will get easier, after all this is only my first week to really work on it. I had my best luck at Meijer. My friend suggested a blog called Saving Addiction. She has everything you need to know about getting the best deals at Meijer and few other stores.Â
So there you have it! Only a few things that have been going on in my life. Today, the girls and I are off on an adventure. Hopefully I will have a good post to share!
Have a great weekend.
