Today I decided to continue the theme of “Roadkill Rescue.” I used some more reclaimed wood to make a coffee table for our outdoor space. I got a crate, probably used to transport bricks, and took it apart.
This is the picture of the disassembled crate.
I used a square and cut off the sides, to clean-up the sides.
I had some old wheels that I attached to the underneath using 3″ lag bolts.
Easy peasy!! New coffee table, with character! You will have to look around for the crate, but you could probably find one for free, too!
It changed the area from:
To this:
My backyard is moving along!

Very cool! I like the look you’re going for! My problem would be my son using it as a skateboard! I’d have to ‘LOCK’ the wheels! lol! Great, creative, job!
Angela says
Yes, I thought about it moving. I have two girls, who might want to use it as a stage! I was able to lock the wheels by drilling a whole through them and putting a screw in.

Very cool idea. I’m working on a screened porch coffee table right now.

I love this table. I saw one like this at Pottery Barn for an arm and a leg (of course). I been wanting to recreate it but so far all I got was the casters. Maybe some day. Good job.

I think this is ingenious!!! What a fun make over.
These things are costly on the retail level.

I adore this kind of table. There are pallets at work that I am allowed to take I have been wanting to make a table like this. The wheels you used really make it look industrial. It looks just like it came from a catalog.

Love this idea! Thanks for the share…I am now on the look out for a crate to use…may have to enlist the bro in law (gets tons of shipments at work)!

I love it! I made one very similar to yours out of a palette… also free! I added casters to mine as well. I have not posted pictures of it yet because I am planning on making a cushion out of some oilcloth so you can use it as a footstool/coffee table/bench!! So I think great minds must think alike right?!

What a great table! I’d have to move my table off my deck to fit this…my deck is really small. Great job.

I loooove this! I saw your post earlier and thought it was awesome. I was jsut browsing pottery barn’s site to get decorating ideas and saw they had a coffee table just like this on “sale” for $300! Crazy! I already have someone bringing home a pallet for me to do this myself too. Thanks for sharing!
