“I had the best Mother’s Day!!” I told my husband that probably a hundred times this past weekend. SO, if you are not in the mood for me being sentimental and extremely smitten, you might want to skip this post!
Madelyn woke Scott up at 6:30 Saturday morning and the two of them made us breakfast. Madelyn got a recipe from the Pioneer Woman’s new cookbood for French Toast with Raspberry butter. It was delicious!
Then we packed up the van and headed to Nashville, IN and Monroe Lake for some shopping and camping. I AM NOT A CAMPER, but I agreed to go because everyone else was so exited about it. If you have ever seen Troop Beverly Hills, that’s more my style of camping! 😉
As a compromise, we stopped for shopping and lunch before we set up camp. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and we had fun walking and just spending time together.
The girl’s were so excited to get to our campsite. They immediately set their chairs up and just started taking in nature.
We ate dinner in stages, corn on the cob was our first course. Followed by hot dogs for everyone except me. {I had a really bad experience with hot dogs when I was younger and still won’t eat them.} I had left-over pizza from lunch, that we heated on foil over the fire. A well known fact about me, I LOVE pizza and could probably eat if for just about every meal!
Followed by some fruit.
The girl’s and I went to gather up some sticks for the fire and Claire thought that “dad” would really like us to bring this tree back. The bigger, the better!?!
Before dark, we had smores for dessert. {I realized just how bad Madelyn’s bangs needed to be cut from this picture, so for all of you conserned, I cut them the second we got home.}
Claire is a lot like me. She wanted to get clean and go play in the tent before bed. I found her with a flashlight, coloring and singing. Isn’t she the cutest thing! {I know I’m biased, but come on!}
The next morning we had powdered and chocholate donuts for breakfast.
And a quick walk down to the water.
We drove home and spent the rest of the day relaxing and then went out for dinner. I could not have asked for a better Mother’s Day!
{Scott, is hopeful that I have changed my mind about the whole camping thing…I still haven’t.}
Have a blessed week,
Angela
