This morning as I sat through the worship portion of our church service, the word “help” kept coming up. The first song I didn’t think a lot about it, but the second one has stuck with me. It’s a song by Kristian Stanfill. Here are some of the lyrics
“Always”
My foes are many, they rise against me
But I will hold my ground
I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way, my help is on the way
Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always
Troubles surround me, chaos abounding
My soul will rest in You
I will not fear the war, I will not fear the storm
My help is on the way, my help is on the way
Oh, my God, He will not delay
My refuge and strength always
I will not fear, His promise is true
My God will come through always, always
I lift my eyes up, my help comes from the Lord
…..
These past few weeks my close group of friends have been going trough a lot of trials. One it’s her health, one’s had her home threatened by smoke, one has had a huge life change and one has had to deal with the thought of a “final” decision. {“our foes are many”}  When we talk to each other we ask each other, “How can we help?” The truth is we can be encouraging or give of ourselves to”help” each other, and significantly turn the situation around. But, dealing with these things emotionally can be overwhelming.
This morning at the beginning of the service, they asked us why we were there. My answer was “for encouragement and to set the tone for my week.” We don’t have to go to church to know Christ or get to heaven, so the reason we go is for the community. God uses others to walk with us, but ultimately it is HIM who is our refuge!
I find comfort in knowing that the God of the universe is on MY side. HE IS MY HELP!
Have a blessed week!

He really is! And yet, so often He is the last person I turn to when I’m needing help. One of my favorite questions to ask myself when I’m struggling is if I’m “going to the throne before I go to the phone?” LOL! So often I turn to my friends or my family first instead of looking to Him to bring me comfort, you know? I’ve had a lot happening around me too and it really does cause you to stop and think about the only thing we can depend on with absolute certainty in this world…the love of God and the sacrifice of His Son for us! 🙂 Thanks for sharing from your heart Angela~

I have been through a lot in the last two months, and identify so much with what you are saying. We need to cast our cares on Him more and let them go, once we do! Easy to say, harder to do:)

I know, it is!! Hang in there!
