With the invention of smart phones, came the problem of using your phone while wearing gloves! 😉 Fingerless gloves are one solution for this problem and they are just down right cute! To make your own (or a gift for someone else) is super simple.
Here’s what you will need: wool sweater washed/dried on HOT, scissors. Optional: felting needle, cookie cutter, brush or sponge, and wool roving.
Cut both sleeves off (evenly) at the length you want your gloves. Then put them up to your hand and figure out where you want the thumb hole. To make the hole for the thumb cut a very small slit. The rule of thumb (get it!?) is to make it smaller than you think. You can always trim more if you need to. 🙂
To add some decorative detail, you can use wool and a cookie cutter in any design. Just put a brush or sponge inside the glove then set the cookie cutter on top. Fill in the cutter with the wool roving and “jab” it with the felting needle.
Once you get the general design, take off the cutter and go around the outside again. You want to make sure the entire things is secure.
The underside will look similar to this:
The end result SHOULD look like your cookie cutter! 😉
The longest part of this whole craft is gathering up the supplies!! What do you think…want a pair or two?

Angela, this is adorable! What a fun idea – I’ve wanted to do felted wool detailing for a long time – i think a trip to our local Salvation Army is called for to get some wool sweaters! Can you get the wool roving at JoAnns?

Thanks for sharing! I have seen some fingerless glove tutorials, but I love the personalization with the felting! Simple and adorable!
