I started working on the girl’s room a few weeks ago. {before photos, here} It was in need of some updates and new paint. I started with The Lord’s Prayer sampler as inspiration and pulled the wall color from it. The girls had pretty much destroyed the walls, so we needed to repair them before we painted. {my mom did all the painting, THANKS MOM!}
I bought the “beds” from a friend. I say “beds” because it is technically one bed. It had a headboard and foot-board that I {meaning my dad, THANKS DAD!} made into another headboard. It involved a lot of grinding and sparks! He removed the metal brackets and added a wooden support. You can’t even tell that it wasn’t originally a headboard, right?
I replaced the original chandelier with this one. It is one I picked up for $1 a long time ago. It needed a little work, but it is a little bigger than the previous one and works better in the space. It needs some shades, but I haven’t found the right ones yet.
I reinstalled the Pottery Barn bedside lamps that were on the opposite wall, and moved the hall dresser in-between the beds for the night stand.
There’s still quite a bit to do, but it’s coming together! I can’t wait to show the curtains…I’m working on those now.
AWWW, progress! 🙂

Angela that room is positively adorable!! I love the wall color and I’m super impressed at how your dad transformed one bed into two. Can he come help me out with a few things at my house? LOL! It is all looking so beautiful and we are so glad you shared it with us at Inspiration Friday! 🙂

I love your design ideas. Your girls’ room is lovely. I have the same bed. They were given to me by my Dad. The bed was his grandfather’s. I haven’t used it because it doesn’t fit a standard twin. I had not thought of using it two separate twin headboards. I love the idea! Thanks!
