You all know I love to entertain…AND you know that sometimes I can get a little carried away when it comes to food and decor. Over the years I have learned tricks to help me simplify and this little “TREAT BAR” is a great and EASY way to add a some fun to your next party, game night or get-together!
This bar is great when you plan a last minute party because it can be as simple or as elaborate as you want.
My biggest tip is to always use what you have! For my decor inspiration, I used my recent gift bag artwork. Then I just gathered things from around the house to give more height and dimension to the food area.
Cake stands and stools are some of my favorite items I use to display food.
I used pre-made Rice Krispies Treats as the main ingredient. I left some plain, then whipped up a few chocolate and peanut butter filled. (Recipes are at the bottom of post.)
I just set out a bunch of different toppings to complete the bar. Things like hazelnut spread, caramel, peanut butter, and fudge can be used as the “glue” for the other toppings.
Toppings choices can be anything small. I used chopped M&M’s, mini chocolate and white chips, sunflower seeds, chopped nuts and mint candies.
A variety of white dishes are always great to have for serving.
This is such a fun way to have a dessert bar and is super easy to set up!! The hardest part is deciding what toppings you want to add. 😉
Here are the recipes for the sticks that I made (they were a HIT!):
Peanut Butter Lover’s Rice Krispie Sticks
Ingredients: 2 cups of JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows, Peanut Butter M&M’s, 1 Tablespoon of peanut butter, 2 teaspoons of milk, 8 pre-made Rice Krispies Treats.
Directions:
1. Take each Rice Krispies Treat out of the packaging and cut in half. Then take each half and cut through the center, making a top and bottom. (Set these aside for later.)
2. Carefully chop up a few handfuls of Peanut Butter M&M’s using either a knife or food processor. (Set these aside.)
3. In a small sauce pan, add 2 cups of JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows, 2 teaspoons of milk and 1 tablespoon of peanut butter. Put the burner on low and heat slowly.
4. Stir continuously until all the marshmallows are melted and everything is combined.
5. Once the mixture is slightly cool but still somewhat of a liquid, smear a small amount onto the bottom portion of your cut sticks.
6. Sprinkle some of the chopped M&M’s onto the marshmallow mixture then top with the remaining piece of Rice Krispie Treat. (Note: You might need to add a little more of the mixture to hold everything in place.)
7. Let the bars cool. Serve with a variety of dipping and sprinkle toppings.
