Hi there!  I’m Elena from `a casarella and I am tickled pink to be here at Unexpected Elegance.

Today I’m going to tell you a little about myself  and my blog.  The pictures will do most of the talking, but I would be thrilled if you were to stop by `a casarella for a little visit.

First things first, if you want to learn more about how my blog got its name (or what that name means), you can learn about that in my very first post, found here.

One thing that I love to write about is baking, especially for people’s birthdays.  My cakes range from the elegant:

I also love working with mason jars.  (And really, who doesn’t these days?)  Here are two of my more popular creations:

As you can probably tell from the mason jars, I love to utilize things in unexpected ways, like using pants hangers as “picture frames”:

Or paint chips as gift tags:

Or an ipad sleeve as a camera tripod:

And given my love of repurposing, it should come as no surprise that I love second hand shopping:

One thing I don’t love is gardening (because I’m not very good at it).  That is unless we’re talking about these guys, that’s a different story:

While I would love to stay here all day telling you about myself, I think I’ve given you a pretty good glimpse at who I am and what I write about.
