Well, it’s that time of the year. You know, the MOST WONDERFUL TIME!! I truely feel that way. I know that for some people Christmas is the opposite of that statement, but for our family we are trying to focus on our blessings. (Which makes me think of the scene in White Christmas, where Bing Crosby sings “Count Your Blessing…LOVE that movie!”)
If you have read my blog for over a year, you know that last year my family did 25 Days of Giving from December 1st-25th. I made a Pottery Barn advent calendar knock-off to use throughout December and make it a little more fun for the girls. You can get my tutorial here.
These next 25 days the focus will be more on giving rather than receiving, the essence of what Christmas should be about. I hope my girls will remember this as one our family’s Christmas “traditions.”
With that said, tomorrow is the first day and I have been so busy that it has been hard to get organized. Madelyn, my oldest daughter, is VERY excited (which makes me extremely happy!) and she’s been asking ” when is the first day, Mommy?” So, we are prepared for a least the next few days. Tomorrow will be a day the girls clean out their toys and give some away to a charity. They have already offered some of their “good” ones, too!
I hope some of you will consider joining us and help spread JOY this holiday season, when some people desperately need it. It doesn’t take a lot of money to participate, either.
If you need some help coming with 25 days, you can check out The Train To Crazy. She has a lot of different ideas to help you prepare. She also explains that this should never be something that you stress about.
“The point is to focus on loving and serving others during the season we celebrate the one who came to serve and love {and SAVE} us.”
SO true!!
I hope you all are having a great week and if you live close can stop by Horton’s THIS weekend! 🙂
