Some of you might have already seen from Facebook that we had our sliding doors replaced with a set of French doors, but today I thought I would share all the changes that have been going on in the kitchen. To start, the doors have made a HUGE difference! I absolutely love them!! The track on the sliding door was out of control dirty and “clean” never really looked clean. They also didn’t lock, so every night we had to put a piece of scrap wook in the track (I guess there are a million uses for scrap wood!) Not to mention how much more attractive the new doors are.
In the Spring I had made a few changes and I claimed I didn’t want to paint the kitchen. You can see that post here. Well, once I really started working on the kitchen I HAD to paint. {My husband and my father would disagree with that last statement, but I know some of you understand! 😉 }
My kitchen was a darker green before and painting it white has made it feel so much bigger and brighter.
I also added the chandelier above the table. I’ve never been a fan of the swag chain, but I can’t afford to hire an electrician so swag it will.
 I’ve also been in the process of changing out the hardware. I’m replacing the brushed nickle with, wait for it…antiqued brass. I never ever thought I would use brass in my house on PURPOSE!?! But, I’ve learned to never say never. I really like the look of an aged brass, so the trend has made full circle in my house. I still say I will NEVER like shiny brass, and pretty sure that one will stick. Ok, so maybe it takes me a while to learn a lesson?!?
Today I’m finishing up some curtains for the new doors. We need something to block the morning sun and I’m doing it on the cheap. I’ll work on a few posts about how I saved money and what I used. I will also do a complete before and after once everything is “finished.” {Although most of you know by now that I’m never truly finished with anything.}
Have a great day and I’ll be back soon with some more of whats been going on with my small business.

I’ve seen some very nice drapes made with beige cotton (or linen) drop cloths, yes, the same things used for painting…they looked great. I am considering something with big grommets (you can get a grommet kit at a sewing store)

I love your kitchen! And I’m all about white so of course I know you HAD to paint! Loving that french cup rack – is it a real french one? I want one so bad – someday I want to go to France and buy my own!! LOL!
